The platform offers features for estimating, job costing, change orders, purchase orders, invoicing, client portals, AI-powered updates, integrations, onboarding and training to help contractors improve profitability, save time and keep teams and clients aligned.

📋 Description

• Lead migration of Buildertrend's data platform to a modern Databricks lakehouse • Design, build, and maintain the Databricks lakehouse using medallion architecture in dbt • Establish layer standards, naming conventions, and build rules • Build ELT pipelines with Databricks, dbt, and Fivetran from SQL Server, Salesforce, MongoDB, Gong, OpenTelemetry, and vendors such as Zonda • Lead the exit from legacy systems including BigQuery, Data Fusion, and Cloud Fusion • Refactor pipelines, untangle circular dependencies, and repoint Tableau to the new platform • Improve SQL Server log-ship replication and Fivetran ingestion • Build automation including auto-recovery, full-refresh jobs, and watchdog orchestration • Implement data quality checks, freshness monitoring, and quality metrics using dbt tests, Unity Catalog, and Fivetran metadata • Design access controls, permission models, per-team clusters, service principals, and scoped access for AI tools • Handle privacy requests through tools such as DataGrail to meet CCPA requirements • Establish data contracts with product engineering and write data documentation including data dictionaries, ERDs, specification documents, and column notes • Build and improve curated data products • Partner with engineers, analysts, business leaders, and stakeholders to prioritize work and manage dependencies • Mentor engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, evaluate emerging technologies, and grow toward technical leadership

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is required • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or data analytics • Proven experience leading a data platform migration from planning through delivery, including setting deadlines and owning the outcome • Experience partnering with Data Science, ML, or AI teams and building datasets for model development and experimentation • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, and dbt • Strong proficiency in SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Python, APIs, and large, complex datasets • Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL and ELT pipelines, medallion architecture, and analytics- and machine-learning-ready datasets • Experience writing data tests, setting up freshness and alerting monitors, and building access controls or governance policies in a live production environment • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, reviewing technical work, and influencing engineering standards • Practical approach to new tools and technologies, including AI • Previous experience at a B2B SaaS company is preferred • Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, and Fivetran is a plus
