📋 Description

• Define the future of banking in the cloud through technical leadership • Devise practical and reusable solutions to complex problems • Drive innovation and optimize business outcomes through strong technology solutions • Promote engineering excellence and an inclusive technical culture • Mentor engineers and help recruit and develop technical talent • Act as a trusted advisor for key technologies, platforms, and capability domains • Create communications, code samples, blog posts, and other knowledge-sharing materials • Define long-term technical strategy and destination architecture • Prototype new capabilities and scale robust systems • Apply AI and agentic capabilities to intelligent customer experiences • Design systems for employee and operational spend management • Develop underwriting and lending capabilities that manage credit risk and support customer growth • Identify and implement high-value AI and agentic-system use cases • Articulate and evangelize a technical vision • Decompose complex problems into practical, operational solutions • Ensure technical design and implementation quality • Lead performance, scalability, and operability efforts • Manage multiple projects and balance time to maximize impact • Modernize monolithic systems into microservice architectures and event-driven platforms • Collaborate with senior engineering and architecture leaders on platform strategy and API standards • Provide hands-on technical contributions while mentoring engineers • Lead cross-divisional projects that promote technology best practices

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field • At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing, and data architecture • Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering • Preferred: 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture • Preferred: 10+ years of professional coding experience in Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala • Preferred: 8+ years of experience with databases and database management systems • Preferred: 10+ years of experience across the full system development lifecycle • Preferred: 8+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies • Preferred: 10+ years of experience with networking protocols and third-party distributed systems • Preferred: 5+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams • Preferred: 2+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards • Expertise in the strategic application of agentic AI coding tools • Willingness to work in the listed locations or remote arrangement • Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization
