📋 Description

• Review patient records and accurately assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes according to established guidelines • Meet the inpatient coding productivity standard of 17 charts per day • Assign MS-DRG, POA, and discharge disposition appropriately • Assist with inpatient, outpatient, and psychiatric coding • Work as a team member to achieve department goals • Assist with data integrity audits and correct errors such as invalid codes and discharge codes • Monitor the daily backlog of uncoded records, report to the Manager, and adjust the work schedule accordingly • Assist in identifying potential identity errors • Review and appropriately apply Coding Clinics • Maintain current knowledge and certification

🎯 Requirements

• 2 years coding experience in a hospital setting with inpatient/MS-DRG coding • 2 years experience in regulatory issues related to Medicare and other third party payers as it relates to hospital coding and billing • Graduation from an accredited coding program upon hire • One of the following certifications required upon hire: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) • Must preserve confidentiality of health information • Must be able to use tact and diplomacy when communicating with employees, physicians, administration, and the public under complex or emotional situations
