📋 Description

• Provides accurate and timely assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes on medical records for routine patient types • Reviews medical records, superbills, and/or charge sheets to identify diagnoses and procedures and assigns ICD-10-CM codes • Identifies and assigns CPT-4 codes to outpatient procedures • Abstracts diagnostic and procedural codes and other pertinent data into the network system • Reviews and monitors assigned work queues, physician note reports, and missing documentation encounters • Provides information on specific problem accounts to the Coding Supervisor • Partners with the Coding Supervisor, Physician, and Practice Manager to identify and resolve documentation opportunities • Performs other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• 3 years of experience in hospital and/or physician practice outpatient coding • High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum of one of the following certifications: Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, coding guidelines, and computers • Proven detail orientation and good problem-solving related to coding
