📋 Description

• Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to medical records for routine patient types • Review medical records, superbills, and charge sheets to identify diagnoses and procedures • Assign ICD-10-CM codes to routine patient types • Identify and assign CPT-4 codes to outpatient procedures • Abstract diagnostic and procedural codes and pertinent data into the network system • Monitor work queues, physician notes reports, and missing documentation encounters • Code and abstract missed accounts • Provide information on problem accounts to the Coding Supervisor • Partner with the Coding Supervisor, Physician, and Practice Manager to resolve documentation opportunities • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• 3 years of experience in hospital and/or physician practice outpatient coding • High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum of one required certification: Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, coding guidelines, and computers • Detail orientation and problem-solving related to coding
