📋 Description

• Design features, write production code daily, and solve hard problems in real-time AI systems • Own design, implementation, deployments, and live-site health • Build and maintain a conversational voice AI system for the automotive industry • Integrate speech-to-text, text-to-speech, LLMs, and telephony systems • Optimize real-time audio pipelines for low latency and high-quality results • Own observability using self-hosted LangFuse, CloudWatch dashboards and alarms, and LLM cost attribution • Build resilience with circuit breakers, multi-provider LLM failover, and retry/backoff strategies • Design event-driven, cross-account AWS infrastructure using EventBridge and SQS • Deliver infrastructure as code with AWS CDK across containerized and serverless architectures • Own release engineering using semantic-release, monorepo versioning, and cost-allocation tagging • Deliver fault-tolerant, highly available telephony integrations with comprehensive error handling • Use AI coding agents in daily engineering workflows • Contribute to systems design and drive critical technical decisions • Establish engineering standards, best practices, and architecture patterns • Lead initiatives improving engineering productivity, quality, and scalability • Design and implement scalable systems spanning modern and legacy systems • Identify and solve technical problems proactively • Translate business needs into robust technical strategies • Share knowledge through documentation, talks, pairing sessions, and insightful code reviews • Help engineers build leadership and technical skills

🎯 Requirements

• CS degree or demonstrated equivalent depth in algorithms, systems design, and distributed computing • 5+ years building and scaling production systems • Expert-level TypeScript and Node.js experience • Strong AWS experience, including ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, RDS/ElastiCache, SQS, CloudWatch, networking, and IAM • Infrastructure as code with CDK • CI/CD and release automation, such as semantic-release or equivalent • Production database experience with Postgres • Experience integrating third-party systems such as dealership management systems, scheduling platforms, and CRMs, or comparable enterprise API integration experience • Strong focus on testing, observability, and reliability • Experience with LLM application development, including prompt engineering, context management, and latency optimization • Experience with real-time systems, including WebSockets and event-driven architectures • Experience with high-throughput distributed systems and performance optimization under strict latency constraints • Experience with telephony/VoIP systems, including SIP, RTP, and audio codecs • Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mindset • Self-motivated, adaptable, curious, and strategic approach to problem-solving
