• Prepare complex technical legal documents, including indictments, warrants, motions, orders, subpoenas, plea agreements, and legal memoranda • Review incoming case documents and materials • Obtain information from criminal case files, law enforcement agencies, and other sources for legal documents • Ensure recurring legal documents comply with local court rules and required style and format • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including trial and witness notebooks, exhibits, jury instructions, and witness and exhibit lists • Coordinate with victim/witness specialists and notify relevant staff of victim/witness issues • Verify legal citations and statutory references using Westlaw and/or Lexis/Nexis • Research, proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs • Electronically file legal documents with the U.S. District Court using CM/ECF • Develop tables of contents and indices and compile cited authorities • Compose legal correspondence and transmit proposed orders to the court • Request extensions, advise on case developments, and notify defense counsel of issues • Manage electronic discovery databases, including scanning, linking, uploading, and downloading case materials • Manage discovery processing and production; bates-stamp and redact materials using Adobe Acrobat and potentially IPRO Eclipse • Send continuing discovery to defense counsel as directed by the assigned AUSA • Maintain electronic case files, enter case-management data, calendar deadlines in MS Outlook, and prepare case-opening/conflict forms
• Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience is required; trial experience is very helpful • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw • Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources • Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure
