📋 Description

• Coordinate all activities related to receipt of organ offers for transplant • Evaluate organ offers for suitability • Coordinate procurement of organs and transplant setups • Comply with OPTN/UNOS requirements for post-transplant documentation of donor and transplant activities • Serve as contact for potential transplant offers from local, regional and national organ procurement organizations • Organize procurement and dispatch teams and send them to donor sites within required time frames • Coordinate air or ground transportation of organs • Serve as a resource for organ recovery and preservation • Assist in training organ preservation caregivers • Orient residents and fellows to renal procurement, renal allocation and regulatory requirements • Develop and present professional education programs as needed • Obtain, analyze and report pertinent donor and accepted-organ data • Attend selection committee meetings • Abstract and enter data into the transplant database

🎯 Requirements

• Applicant must reside in Northeast Ohio • Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field OR a degree/diploma from an accredited Nursing School, Respiratory Therapy Program or Paramedic Program • One year of experience as an organ procurement coordinator OR clinical experience in critical care or in the field of organ procurement/transplant • Maintain valid licenses and required certificates: Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist or Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic • Preferred: Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) by the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) • Preferred: Previous transplant or organ procurement experience • Preferred: Related healthcare experience, UNOS/UNET experience and knowledge • Ability to be available 24 hours a day when assigned • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required • Required to comply with Cleveland Clinic’s influenza prevention program, including annual vaccination or an approved exemption • Offers of employment are followed by testing for controlled substances
