📋 Description

• Serve as the primary legal partner to PeopleOps and Talent across the employee lifecycle, including hiring, compensation, leaves, performance management, workforce changes, and separations • Advise on complex employee relations matters, including investigations, terminations, and reductions in force • Develop jurisdiction-specific hiring and employment guardrails worldwide, including worker classification, employer-of-record structures, and local employment terms • Support Coalition’s entry into new markets • Select and manage local outside counsel in non-U.S. jurisdictions • Monitor emerging employment and workforce regulations and translate them into recommendations for PeopleOps, Talent, and Legal leadership • Draft and maintain jurisdiction-specific employment agreements, policies, and handbooks • Train People team members and managers • Manage employment disputes with outside counsel • Build cross-functional relationships, provide practical advice, and support special projects and strategic initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to, and in good standing with, at least one US state bar (or equivalent qualification) • 12+ years of relevant legal experience, focused on global employment laws and labor practices in a highly regulated industry • Experience advising HR and Talent teams across multiple jurisdictions, including outside the U.S. • Experience selecting, directing, and managing local outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions • Experience drafting contracts or agreements and using a contract database (CMS) • Successful track record managing client requests, completing projects promptly, and adapting to a fast-paced environment • Excellent legal and business judgment • Excellent communication and drafting skills • Ability to work independently, multitask, meet deadlines, and navigate a remote work environment • Strong attention to detail, proofreading, problem-solving, follow-up, and organizational skills • Strong negotiating skills in legal and financial/commercial matters • Initiative and ownership of projects • Bonus: in-house People and Talent experience at a growth-stage or technology-driven company • Bonus: UK and European employment law experience and familiarity with pay transparency, EU collective bargaining, AI in employment, and employee data privacy • Bonus: experience in Insurtech, cybersecurity, SaaS, financial services, or other regulated industries
