📋 Description

• Perform inpatient coding quality audits and reviews of UASI internal coders and auditors across varied inpatient facility record types • Evaluate coding accuracy, documentation support, coding guidelines, client-specific requirements, audit standards, and regulatory compliance • Run reports and provide audit score results • Identify and analyze coding trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities • Formulate recommendations for corrective action, education, and quality improvement • Research audit findings using authoritative resources such as AHA Coding Clinic and ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Guidelines • Provide education, feedback, and coaching to internal coders and auditors • Deliver in-service education to clients as requested • Participate in peer review, audit-the-auditor, calibration, and quality assurance activities • Assist with educational programs and training for clients and staff • Maintain current knowledge of inpatient coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry guidance • Collaborate on senior-level projects, including ICD-10 assessment and analysis, audit tools, staff education, applicant coding tests, and client coding-advice articles

🎯 Requirements

• Active RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience performing inpatient facility coding audits and reviews, in addition to previous inpatient coding experience • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated auditing experience across the full range of inpatient facility coding • Experience auditing complex inpatient cases across a broad range of diagnoses, procedures, and service lines • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS code assignment and sequencing, POA indicators, discharge disposition, MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment, including CC/MCC, SOI, and ROM impacts • Ability to manage multiple priorities, audit assignments, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail • Demonstrated initiative in research and maintaining inpatient coding knowledge and expertise • Ability to remain impartial and objective when evaluating, finalizing, and presenting audit findings • Willingness to take ownership of responsibilities and deadlines • Strong organizational, time-management, and critical-thinking skills • Strong computer skills, including use of UASI audit software and secure file transfer in compliance with HIPAA policies and requirements • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Detail-oriented, quality-focused, self-directed, and adaptable • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
