📋 Description

• Lead the Create Core platform engineering team directly • Set goals and expectations while enabling engineers to own execution • Partner with Product and application teams to prioritize the Core roadmap • Run the platform as a product by gathering consuming-team needs and making build/decline decisions • Communicate platform direction and enable application teams to plan against it • Make decisions on platform scope, adoption sequencing, and cross-team trade-offs • Develop understanding of business needs served by the team • Guide architecture of shared libraries and services • Improve developer experience through documentation, paved paths, reference implementations, and local-first tooling • Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility across Core components with assistive-technology testing • Partner with the Principal Engineer, architects, engineering directors, product, and design leaders on technical strategy and platform evolution • Cultivate communication, positive culture, engagement, diversity, and inclusion • Define Agile team ceremonies and maximize productive work time • Support and invest in team-member growth

🎯 Requirements

• 7 years’ experience in Agile software application development • Expertise delivering web-based products or platform-level features in cloud-first environments • Production coding and code review experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, and React • Ability to design and evaluate AWS-based architectures using best practices • Experience managing teams of 4 to 8 direct reports • Accountability for technical team output • Experience overseeing product or platform features, infrastructure, and vendor management • Experience ensuring compliance with internal policies • Comprehensive people-management experience, including hiring, engaging, and developing team members • Experience leading engineering and architecture discussions and aligning stakeholders • Strong planning, prioritization, and execution skills • Experience establishing new teams and foundations for new products • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and feedback abilities • Able to travel 3-5 times a year to the NYC or Reston, VA office • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer • Passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills • Learner’s mindset and commitment to growth • Collaborative and empathetic approach • Drive for impact and excellence
