Convergent Research is a nonprofit organization that supports the creation and operation of Focused Research Organizations (FROs). These are new types of scientific startups dedicated to tackling large-scale, coordinated projects in science and technology. Convergent Research operates with a focus on achieving pre-specified, quantifiable technical milestones within finite-duration projects. 📋 Description

• Build and continuously improve Convergent’s programmatic operating infrastructure, including workflows, systems, documentation, and operating rhythms • Own end-to-end applicant and selection operations across multiple residency and founder programs • Receive and securely store applications; manage review and selection stages; coordinate reviewers, decisions, and applicant communications; capture structured feedback; preserve historical records; and report on pipeline health and outcomes • Define meaningful operational metrics and build dashboards for applicant pipelines, review processes, program delivery, project status, and organizational capacity • Manage complex cross-functional projects by translating priorities into plans, owners, dependencies, and deadlines • Mobilize colleagues, create accountability, follow up consistently, and surface risks with proposed solutions • Map workflows, identify bottlenecks, automate repetitive work, and reduce operational friction • Create playbooks, standard operating procedures, templates, decision records, and durable institutional documentation • Project-manage internal initiatives and troubleshoot emerging operational challenges as organizational needs evolve • Establish scalable systems and operating practices that help Convergent grow without proportionally increasing complexity

🎯 Requirements

• Approximately 4–8 years of experience in startup operations, project management, business operations, sales enablement, program operations, or a related role • Experience in a startup or entrepreneurial organization • Experience managing multiple concurrent, cross-functional projects with competing priorities • Experience building or significantly improving operational processes • Experience working in a fully remote or highly distributed organization • Strong documentation and asynchronous communication habits • Experience administering or designing systems in Notion, Asana, Coda, Smartsheet, Monday.com, or similar platforms • Strong judgment about when to add structure, automate, or use a simpler process • Interest in science and technology and enthusiasm for helping ambitious research organizations succeed • Ability to translate ambiguous goals into actionable plans, identify dependencies, establish owners and deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives • Data-driven approach, including defining metrics, building dashboards, identifying bottlenecks, and creating feedback loops • Comfort learning operational tools and assessing automation opportunities • Clear communication with executives, scientists, applicants, reviewers, and external partners • Workflow automation, integrations, CRM or applicant-tracking systems, or database design experience is helpful but not required • PMP certification is not required
