📋 Description

• Provide day-to-day supervision of research interns on the Technical Prospecting team • Coordinate intern research activities according to priorities, research questions, roadmaps, delivery targets, and technical procedures • Translate project objectives into assignments, weekly goals, schedules, and workflow; monitor progress • Maintain records of assignments, milestones, owners, risks, and dependencies; provide status reports and escalate delivery, compliance, and stakeholder risks • Administer cycle planning, weekly check-ins, milestone reviews, demos, and other planning routines • Manage project schedules and milestones; adjust workflow and escalate capacity constraints, timeline risks, and scope changes • Review project documentation and results for completeness, repeatability, and demonstration readiness; recommend adoption, revision, or discontinuation • Support refinement of research questions and documentation of baselines, success measures, and acceptance criteria • Apply evaluation methods, test data, benchmarks, accuracy measures, and error-analysis practices; investigate exceptions • Monitor documentation and version-control requirements for code, prompts, data, and experiment logs • Conduct literature, tool, and vendor reviews and summarize findings and recommendations • Perform hands-on research, prototyping, coding, debugging, testing, and documentation using approved AI tools • Review intern code, prototypes, and documentation for correctness, performance, security, maintainability, and AI-native SDLC standards • Perform individual technical tasks such as creating prototypes, reproducing results, building evaluation aids, and resolving routine blockers • Collect and document business and operational requirements from end users and sponsors • Coordinate technical reviews, document decisions and actions, and monitor feedback completion regarding APIs, services, and application architecture • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and recommend improvements to team procedures • Provide input on intern selection; administer onboarding, recruiting, access, training, and offboarding processes • Hold regular 1:1s, coach interns, provide feedback, and administer midpoint and end-of-internship evaluations • Review and approve intern timecards and maintain required administrative records • Coordinate with technical leadership, engineering, data science, HR, university relations, and business stakeholders • Monitor compliance with security, privacy, and data-handling policies; investigate routine exceptions and escalate material concerns • Maintain project templates, onboarding materials, standard operating procedures, and the research archive • Hire, develop, coach, lead, and retain talent while improving team culture and customer satisfaction • Complete performance-review goals, special projects, and other assigned duties

🎯 Requirements

• Degree in computer science, machine learning, AI, data science, engineering, or a related technical field, with one of the following: Bachelor’s degree + 2-3 years of experience; Master’s degree + 1-2 years of experience; PhD + 0-1 years of experience • Relevant experience in software engineering, applied AI, machine learning, or data science research, and technical program or project management • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical contributors such as interns, early-career engineers, or research assistants • Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and ability to review intern code and prototypes for technical, security, and documentation standards • Ability to quickly evaluate and adopt new AI tools • Experience supporting applied research or experiments using established methods, documenting hypotheses, applying evaluation metrics, analyzing results, and recommending next steps • Experience translating approved objectives into assignments, short-term goals, schedules, and status reporting for a small team or work unit • Ability to work within general direction and established procedures, clarify routine requirements, and escalate material scope or acceptance-criteria questions • Clear written, verbal, and demo communication skills, including explaining complex technical concepts and results • Sound judgment about data security and privacy, especially with sensitive healthcare and claims data • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), SharePoint, and project tracking tools such as Jira or Asana • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access/connectivity and office setup and maintenance • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area • Preferred: Hands-on experience with LLM application patterns such as agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation • Preferred: Experience with knowledge graphs or graph databases • Preferred: Experience on fast-paced product, research, or innovation teams, or in running internship or university programs • Preferred: Experience with AWS, Azure, or OCI and Docker or Kubernetes • Preferred: Exposure to healthcare, clinical chart review, medical coding, or claims concepts • Preferred: CSM, PSM I, or SAFe Agilist certification, or experience with OKRs or similar frameworks • Ability to communicate, solve problems critically, work independently, motivate and develop others, apply statistics, build solutions with modern programming languages/frameworks/AI tools, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information properly
