📋 Description

• Own Aetna Technology data reference architectures across ingestion, storage, transformation, semantic, and consumption layers • Define the data mesh operating model with domain-owned data products, clear contracts, and enabling platform capabilities • Establish and protect singular systems of record and authoritative dataset ownership • Design and maintain golden paths for data pipelines and data products • Embed data governance, lineage, and quality as automated pipeline gates • Define controls for regulated and sensitive data, including PHI classification, access, masking, and retention • Establish zero-trust patterns for data access using identity, least privilege, and blast-radius reduction • Provide data architecture underpinning Aetna Technology AI capabilities, including feature readiness, retrieval, and data contracts • Establish semantic and metrics layers for scalable analytics and dashboards • Partner with AI, analytics, data platform, and internal platform teams on secure, cost-effective infrastructure • Author data standards enforced through automated gates and golden-path defaults • Contribute to architecture governance, reference architectures, technology radar input, and design reviews • Evaluate emerging data platforms and tooling and recommend adoption directions • Translate data architecture trade-offs into decision-oriented narratives for senior technology leaders and peer architects • Coach Solution Architects and senior engineers through design reviews and system-level reasoning without direct reporting relationships • Partner technically with strategic data platform vendors and internal platform teams

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years in technology, with deep, hands-on data architecture experience at Aetna Technology scale • Expert-level data platform architecture across multivendor, multicloud environments, including Snowflake, GCP/BigQuery, and AWS • Fluency across modeling, pipelines, and consumption layers • Demonstrated ownership of enterprise data architectures and golden-path patterns for data products • Strong command of data governance, lineage, quality, and regulated-data controls, including PHI or equivalent • Working knowledge of data mesh, domain ownership, and systems-of-record design • Track record of driving technical outcomes through influence and design authority as an individual contributor • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience • Experience in healthcare, health insurance, or similarly regulated industries • Hands-on background with data infrastructure behind AI/ML, including feature stores, retrieval, and data contracts • Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware data architecture • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated policy/guardrail enforcement
