📋 Description

• Develop domain-specific specifications, test blueprints, item specifications, art specifications, and style guides • Develop item writer training manuals, including bias and universal design manuals • Facilitate item writer workshops for the assigned science domain or project • Write, review, revise, and edit science test items • Develop scoring guidelines and rubrics for constructed-response and performance assessments • Support range-finding activities and construct pilot, field-test, and operational test forms • Support development of test ancillaries, including test directions and practice tests • Support final review and sign-off processes for assigned items, tests, forms, and ancillaries • Facilitate or support state committee reviews, including content-item and bias reviews, alignment studies, and standard-settings • Work with Senior Test Development Specialists, Project Leads, Directors, state education department counterparts, and project team members • Assign tasks and provide guidance to support staff and contractors as needed • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of three years of teaching experience in grades 6–8 and/or high school science, or related experience • In-depth knowledge of science content, curriculum, and instruction • General knowledge of test publishing industry standards • Knowledge of teaching best practices in the field of expertise • Experience working in teams and independently • Outstanding written and oral communication skills • Ability to solve complex issues when writing, reviewing, revising items, and constructing test forms • Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and direction • Knowledge of national and state-specific curriculum standards • Experience writing and editing test items • Experience constructing test forms • Strong computer and organizational skills • Prompt attendance when scheduled and ability to work under supervision and accept feedback • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace • Ability to work respectfully with diverse work groups • Ability to perform consistently during increased workload • Ability to set and meet deadlines and manage multiple job functions simultaneously • Ability to participate in business travel • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours • Ability to use a computer monitor, keyboard, and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
