Duckietown Robotics is an educational and research organization and platform that makes hands-on vehicle autonomy and robotics accessible. Born out of MIT CSAIL, Duckietown offers an open ecosystem: a widely used MOOC (“Self-driving Cars with Duckietown”), physical robot kits (Duckiebots) and lab setups, simulators, curricula and rich documentation for instructors and independent learners, and an open research platform (Autolabs) for reproducible mobile-robotics and embodied-AI research. It is used by universities, instructors, researchers and learners worldwide to teach and study perception, control, localization, and multi-agent systems in a compact, low-cost setting, and it runs community events such as the AI Driving Olympics.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of part of our backend and plan its extension. • Develop backend functionality including user registration, group/roles management, content creation infrastructure, and payment infrastructure. • Manage robotics-specific functionality like agent container archives and software updates for robots. • Collaborate with a team and utilize technologies such as Docker, Python, and SQL (Postgres).

🎯 Requirements

• A Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering subject, Robotics, or similar disciplines; • Experience with working on large Python projects; • Familiarity with server-side programming; • Previous experience with at least one of Docker and SQL (Postgres); • (Strict) Professional English language writing, comprehension, and speaking skills: our work is done and documented in English. • Understanding of tech startup working environment (higher risk, higher reward than typical corporate job); • A track record of taking ownership of development and maintenance of complex software systems; • Intrinsic motivation and passion for the position; • You work well in a loosely coupled, tightly aligned environment.
