📋 Description

• Coordinate and monitor overall workflows, standards, and team goals for the HIM functional unit • Supervise, train, and manage staff engaged in HIM functions • Plan daily workflow and work assignments and monitor coverage • Collaborate with HIM Department, DHTS, hospital, and clinic personnel to resolve problems and maintain electronic health record integrity • Review work queues, identify priorities, resolve target-achievement issues, and adjust assignments • Apply state and federal laws and regulatory requirements to the work unit • Ensure quality, timeliness, and customer satisfaction metrics are met • Recruit, select, orient, and train new staff with the HIM System Manager • Identify professional development needs and monitor staff development • Monitor productivity and quality expectations and participate in annual performance reviews • Serve as technical expert for staff questions and difficult customer situations • Recommend departmental policies and procedures, including documentation and testing of database logic needs • Provide timely verbal and written responses to internal and external customers • Develop, implement, and administer operating goals, protocols, and procedures • Participate in employee engagement initiatives and perform other related duties

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma required • Six years of experience in a progressive healthcare setting required • Associate's degree in healthcare or business may substitute for two years of experience • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business may substitute for four years of experience • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Data entry experience • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology • Critical thinking and ability to collect and analyze complex problems • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask accurately • Strong customer service background and ability to work under pressure and time constraints • Ability to create and apply department policies, rules, and regulations relating to patient information, payments, records, and forms • Situational leadership skills and ability to lead teams • Knowledge of general accounting principles • Knowledge of HIS and Epic EHR strongly preferred • RHIT or RHIA strongly preferred
