📋 Description

• Coordinate and monitor workflows, standards, and team goals for the HIM functional unit • Supervise, manage, train, and develop staff engaged in HIM functions • Plan daily workflows and work assignments and ensure appropriate coverage • Monitor work assignments, productivity, quality, and achievement of work-unit expectations • Collaborate with HIM Department staff, DHTS, hospital personnel, and clinic personnel • Resolve problems and concerns to maintain electronic health record integrity • Review daily work queues, identify priorities, resolve target-achievement issues, and adjust assignments • Maintain and apply knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulatory requirements • Ensure quality, timeliness, and customer satisfaction metrics are met • Recruit, select, orient, and train new staff with the HIM System Manager • Identify professional development needs, initiate training, and monitor progress • Recommend performance standards and complete annual performance reviews with the HIM System Manager • Serve as technical expert for staff questions, problems, and difficult customer situations • Recommend departmental policies and procedures, including documentation and database-logic testing • Provide timely verbal and written responses to internal and external customers • Participate in developing operating goals and objectives and implement operating protocols and procedures • Participate in employee engagement initiatives based on work culture scores and action plans • Perform other related duties as required

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma required • 6 years of experience in a progressive healthcare setting • An associate's degree in healthcare or business may substitute for two years of experience • A bachelor's degree in healthcare or business may substitute for four years of experience • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Data entry experience • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology • Critical thinking and ability to collect and analyze complex problems • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask accurately • Strong customer service background and ability to work under pressure and time constraints • Ability to create and apply department policies, rules, and regulations relating to patient information, payments, records, and forms • Knowledge and application of situational leadership skills • Ability to lead teams and maintain effective personnel relationships • Knowledge of general accounting principles • Knowledge of HIS and Epic EHR strongly preferred • RHIT or RHIA strongly preferred
