📋 Description

• Analyze overhead electrical distribution systems using O-Calc software • Perform detailed design and engineering calculations for overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems • Support projects including pole replacements, conductor replacements, true-up modifications, equipment upgrades, and overhead-to-underground conversions • Perform field evaluations of proposed installation sites as required • Verify bills of materials meet design and client requirements • Design distribution projects using PLS-CADD, O-Calc, SPIDA-Calc, or Pole Foreman • Perform voltage drop/flicker and pulling tension calculations • Conduct electrical design review meetings and provide minutes • Interface with project management and designers during the design phase • Communicate and coordinate project activities with the supervising engineer, client, and other stakeholders • Work under the direction of the senior engineer and report to the Distribution Supervising Engineer or Engineering Manager • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university • 0-3 years of experience working in distribution design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm • Experience with reading pole loading sheets and inputting information to O-Calc software • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook) • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail • Basic written and verbal communication skills • Preferred: Experience with distribution design and construction standards for Hawaiian Electric • Preferred: 2+ years of experience with O-Calc Software • Preferred: 2+ years of experience with MicroStation • Preferred: 2+ years of experience with material ordering using SAP • Preferred: Strong written and verbal communication skills • Local candidates only • After accepting an offer, applicants may be required to undergo background checks, drug testing, and/or fit-for-duty physical examination
