📋 Description

• Lead the network engineering team while serving as a senior escalation and design resource for enterprise, high-availability, multi-platform networks • Own the health, security, and continuous improvement of customer networks and Effortless's Switch data center infrastructure • Design, review, and approve complex network configurations and architectures • Assess and resolve complex data network problems and incidents; lead major incident response through resolution and root cause analysis • Own the design, standards, and lifecycle of Cisco Nexus, Firepower, and SDWAN environments at Switch data centers • Set network engineering standards, configuration baselines, and documentation requirements in IT Glue • Review technical analyses and feasibility to develop deployment strategies, resource requirements, and cost estimates • Lead proactive network reviews across client environments to identify security, reliability, capacity, and performance gaps • Use Auvik monitoring, Autotask ticket trends, and assessment data to identify recurring problems and drive permanent fixes • Translate network capacity needs and review findings into cost-effective customer technology-roadmap recommendations • Track hardware and firmware end-of-life, vulnerabilities, and configuration drift; plan remediation • Hire, onboard, coach, and develop Network Engineers and Senior Network Engineers • Set expectations, conduct 1-on-1s and performance reviews, and hold the team accountable using EOS tools in Strety • Manage workload, project priorities, resource availability, and cross-functional work • Own network change management, including approvals, maintenance windows, and rollback plans • Manage the 24/7 on-call rotation and escalation process • Communicate status, risk, and outcomes to leadership, Service Delivery Teams, and customers • Define, track, and report network operations KPIs • Manage network vendor and carrier relationships, escalations, procurement, and licensing decisions • Ensure compliance with client HIPAA, PCI, and NIST requirements • Maintain sensitive and confidential company and customer information

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related technical field • 10+ years of experience with Service Provider, MSP, or enterprise networking or general telecommunications • 3+ years in a Senior Network Engineer (or equivalent) role, serving as the top escalation and design resource for complex networks (required) • 2+ years leading engineers as a manager, team lead, or technical lead, with direct responsibility for work assignment and mentoring • MSP or multi-client environment experience strongly preferred • Expert enterprise networking fundamentals, including complex switching and routing, high availability system design, advanced network security design, Internet services and protocols, and advanced network diagnostics • Demonstrated expert proficiency in at least three of: core routing, core switching, network security, network diagnostics, and application load balancing • Expert analysis and design skills, including gathering systems-issue data, defining alternatives, assessing business impact, and recommending, developing, and implementing cost-effective solutions • Track record of proactively finding and fixing problems in supported environments • Ability to lead, coach, and hold engineers accountable while staying hands-on • Excellent oral and written communication, including explaining technical risk and recommendations to non-technical customers and executives • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, incidents, and people concurrently • Advanced knowledge of current technologies, tools, applications, and vendors • CCNP Enterprise or Security, or equivalent experience; CCIE a strong plus • Fortinet NSE, Meraki (CMNA/ECMS), or other vendor certifications • ITIL Foundation or similar service management certification • Experience with Cisco routers, Catalyst/Nexus switches, Firepower and ASA firewalls • Experience with Cisco Viptela and Meraki SDWAN, Meraki firewalls, switches, and wireless • Experience with Fortinet, Sophos, SonicWALL, Unifi, VMware, Windows Server services, Auvik, Autotask PSA, IT Glue, MS Office, Visio, and collaboration tools
