📋 Description

• Assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 codes to inpatient encounters using Official Coding Conventions guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic • Work closely with physicians, clinical documentation improvement specialists, quality staff, and patient finance staff • Support billing, research, internal and external reporting, and regulatory compliance • Ensure accuracy of DRGs • Extract core data accurately into the HIM abstracting system and data warehouse repository • Facilitate accurate data for patient acuity, severity of illness, and quality outcomes

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent • 5 years inpatient and outpatient coding experience in an acute care environment • Must complete coding proficiency evaluation • Extensive knowledge and understanding of MS-DRGs • Knowledge of disease process, clinical pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology • Physically located and authorized to work in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin • Ability to meet the stated physical and environmental requirements, including lifting up to 75 lbs and carrying objects up to 35 lbs
