📋 Description

• Become a generation controls subject matter expert • Complete a balance of in-the-field and office-based analysis training • Analyze field data • Develop test plans • Prepare for field work • Calculate mathematical models • Run simulations • Document analysis results • Direct generation resources through planned tests at large power plants • Capture field data for analysis • Interact hands-on with instrumentation, control systems, and protection systems of Bulk Electric System generation • Refine industry fundamentals and learn generator controls, power systems skills, controls tuning, simulations, and compliance-related topics • Train for the first 1–2 years to develop skills needed for independent field operations • Work at hydro, combustion turbine, thermal/nuclear turbine, wind, photovoltaic, and battery energy storage facilities throughout the USA • Balance field work and office work during the first 2–4 years

🎯 Requirements

• Completion of, or expected completion of, a Bachelor or Master of Science (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering tailored to controls/power systems • Undergraduate-level exposure to power generation fundamentals • Background in control theory • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and similar tools • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel • Programming experience is beneficial but not required • Enthusiasm for travel and meeting new people • Must be authorized to work in the United States • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test • Must be able to lift 50 pounds • Must have a valid driver's license • Desire to become an industry-leading expert in generators and control systems • Must be physically located in Pacific or Mountain time zone states
