📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion and judgment in handling or directing litigated claims • Conduct investigations and evaluate and make recommendations regarding coverage, liability, and resolution strategies • Select, engage, and collaborate with defense counsel in handling lawsuits • Manage litigation expenses and ensure defense counsel adheres to ERIE's billing guidelines • Comply with and direct defense counsels' utilization of Outside Counsel Guidelines • Train and mentor • Document claim files • Travel and service western New York • Follow other job-related instructions and perform additional duties as requested

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience handling litigation claims or legal experience, or equivalent, required • Associate degree or paralegal certification and eight years of experience handling litigation claims or legal experience, required • High school diploma or GED and ten years of experience handling litigation claims or legal experience, required • Strong knowledge of claims handling required • Strong knowledge of tort law and insurance coverage required • Appropriate license as required by state • Valid driver's license and good driving record required • Ability to travel and service western New York • Regular and predictable attendance required • Ability to perform the listed physical requirements, including driving often and computer use often • AIC or SCLA designation preferred
