📋 Description

• Appraise material damage claims and total losses as received by assignment • Negotiate claim settlements and dispose of salvage within authority • Arrange vehicle inspections with repair shops, policyholders, or claimants • Photograph damaged areas and write estimates on claims when necessary • Determine rental needs and control costs according to company guidelines • Negotiate repair costs with repair shops • Establish value and settle total losses • Distinguish cause of damage for appropriate policy coverage • Issue settlement checks and maintain appropriate records • Establish rapport with agents and claims adjusters • Contact policyholders and claimants regarding complaints from the original adjustment • Attend appropriate training sessions • Handle assigned material damage claims • Evaluate antique and classic cars for coverage value at Underwriting’s request • Maintain regular and predictable attendance

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required • Two years of experience in a body shop or general claims handling, or completion of formal ERIE training program, required • Incumbent must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Completion of General Insurance program preferred • Position requires catastrophe duty, which may include travel on short notice to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Frequent driving and pushing/pulling/moving wheeled objects or equipment • Ability to perform manual keying, data entry, and computer use
