📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling property claims within designated authority • Service the assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations and interview insureds and witnesses • Inspect damage and prepare estimates • Evaluate claims coverage and make coverage recommendations • Handle claims within designated authority; set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Determine claim payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Handle claims involving damage or coverage; potentially negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel • Develop and apply knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions on policy changes, interpretation, and legislation • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Maintain regular and predictable attendance

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required for Property Adjuster Trainee • Bachelor’s degree preferred for Property Adjuster Trainee • Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education; or Bachelor’s Degree required • Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • Must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Must serve on catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aid equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Frequent driving, lifting/moving, and computer/data-entry activities
