📋 Description

• Contact policyholders regarding property claims within level of authority • Conduct investigations, interview insureds and witnesses, inspect damage, and prepare estimates • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding claim coverage • Handle property claims within designated authority • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Evaluate information to determine coverage and total claim value • Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service assigned territory and bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Handle claims involving property damage or coverage issues • Handle litigated claims, including negotiating with plaintiff attorneys or coordinating litigation with defense counsel • Develop and apply knowledge of estimating practices and procedures for property claim adjustment • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Travel regularly within the assigned territory and potentially to other locations for catastrophe duty

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • High school diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education, or bachelor’s degree required • Must live in the assigned territory unless approved by the company • Ability to drive and travel regularly within the assigned territory • Must serve catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel for more than two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Good time management and organization skills preferred • Ability to use required personal protective equipment • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Ability to perform driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, manual keying, data entry, and computer use
