📋 Description

• Handle property claims within designated authority • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations and interview insureds and witnesses • Inspect damage and prepare estimates • Evaluate coverage, claim information, and total claim value • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Handle claims involving damage or coverage, including potentially litigated claims • Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel • Develop and apply knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education • Bachelor’s Degree required • Incumbent must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Must serve on catastrophe duty, potentially traveling on short notice to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to drive frequently and perform lifting, climbing/accessing heights, pushing/pulling, and computer/data-entry tasks
