📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling all types of property claims • Assist or act on behalf of the claims supervisor when required • Conduct investigations, interviews, and damage inspections by driving to damage sites within the assigned territory • Prepare estimates, make recommendations, handle coverage questions, and manage litigation • Set and maintain reserves; review reports and related materials • Direct experts, determine coverage and claim value, issue or decline payment, and negotiate claims with plaintiff attorneys when necessary • Document claim files and submit reports for closure • Recognize subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service the assigned territory and bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with Agents and district sales managers on matters of mutual concern • Represent the company at legal proceedings as required • Complete industry-related training and attend training on policy changes, interpretation, and new legislation • Assist in training new claims adjusters • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required

🎯 Requirements

• Property Adjuster Trainee: High school diploma or equivalent required • Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education; or Bachelor’s Degree required • Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • Incumbent must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Catastrophe Team service may require short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Successful completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred • Valid driver's license and good driving record required • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Regular and predictable attendance required • Manual keying, data entry, inputting information, and computer use • The selected candidate will ideally live in Frederick, Clark or Shenandoah County in Virginia and/or surrounding areas
