📋 Description

• Handle property claims within designated level of authority • Service the assigned territory and potentially handle litigated claims • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations and interview insureds and witnesses • Inspect damage and prepare estimates • Evaluate claims information and make coverage recommendations • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records and related materials • Determine claim payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel as required • Develop and apply knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent • High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education • Bachelor’s Degree • Incumbent must live in the territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Position requires catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Good time management and organization skills preferred • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs • Ability to use computers for manual keying/data entry • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
