📋 Description

• Handle property claims within designated authority and exercise independent discretion or judgment • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations, interview insureds and witnesses, inspect damage, and prepare estimates • Evaluate coverage and total claim value and make coverage recommendations • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials • Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service the assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Handle claims involving damage or coverage and potentially litigated claims • Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel as required • Develop and apply knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions on policy changes, interpretation, and legislation • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Complete a 15-week Property Adjuster Trainee program including classroom, hands-on, and field training in Erie, Pennsylvania

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required for Property Adjuster Trainee • Bachelor’s degree preferred for Property Adjuster Trainee • Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education; or Bachelor’s Degree required • Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • Must live in the assigned territory unless a company-approved change is made • Ability to drive and travel regularly within the assigned territory • Catastrophe duty, including travel on short notice to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Frequent driving, lifting/moving 0–20 lbs, lifting/moving 20–50 lbs, and manual keying/data entry/computer use • Occasional pushing/pulling/moving wheeled objects or equipment
