📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling all types of property claims • Assist or act on behalf of the claims supervisor when required • Conduct investigations and interviews, and inspect damage at sites within the assigned territory • Prepare estimates, make recommendations, handle coverage questions and litigation • Set and maintain reserves; review reports and related materials • Direct experts, determine coverage and claim value, issue or decline payment, and negotiate claims with plaintiff attorneys when necessary • Document claim files and submit reports for closure • Recognize subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service the assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Represent the company at legal proceedings when required • Complete industry-related training and stay informed on policy changes, interpretations and legislation • Assist in training new claims adjusters • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Complete a 15-week Property Adjuster Trainee program, including classroom, hands-on and field training in Erie, PA • Learn and use ERIE’s property estimating platform alongside mentors and supervisors

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required for Property Adjuster Trainee • Bachelor's degree preferred for Property Adjuster Trainee • Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education; or Bachelor’s Degree required • Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • Incumbent must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Position requires catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Ability to use required personal protective equipment • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Regular and predictable attendance required
