📋 Description

• Lead the assigned construction defect claims team and ensure effective claim handling, technical quality, reserve adequacy, litigation oversight, and timely resolution • Translate priorities into team objectives, resource allocation, and operating practices • Coach and develop claims professionals and strengthen technical capability and independent judgment • Identify skill gaps and provide targeted learning opportunities • Identify emerging claim exposures, inventory trends, and operational risks; recommend and implement responses • Improve claim-handling procedures, workflows, escalation practices, and technical training • Establish performance expectations, monitor results, conduct performance discussions, and hold direct reports accountable • Serve as technical escalation point for complex and high-exposure construction defect claims • Direct investigation, coverage analysis, liability and damages evaluation, allocation, and resolution strategy • Analyze claim inventory, litigation metrics, loss and expense development, and reserve adequacy • Provide reporting, actionable insights, and recommendations to the Construction Defect Director of Casualty Claims • Review and authorize reserves and settlements within delegated authority; escalate matters exceeding authority • Review new losses, direct claim assignment, establish initial handling priorities, and evaluate reserves • Balance workloads and identify resource needs • Partner on staffing, candidate interviews, and hiring decisions • Administer personnel policies and align team responsibilities with operational needs • Oversee claim file audits and reviews; establish corrective action plans and monitor completion • Maintain management diaries and conduct risk-based claim reviews • Address handling deficiencies and escalated service issues • Oversee litigation management, including defense strategy, counsel performance, litigation budgets, and resolution opportunities • Lead or contribute to claims initiatives and cross-functional projects

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required • College degree preferred • Ten years of general liability claims handling experience, including substantial construction defect claims experience • Five years of supervisory or claims management experience • Experience managing complex claims, evaluating coverage and liability issues, overseeing litigation, and exercising sound judgment regarding reserves and settlements • Ability to lead claims professionals, manage inventory, evaluate performance, and implement effective claims management practices
