📋 Description

• Provide strategic and operational oversight of Greenbrier’s owned and managed railcar assets • Lead and develop Asset Managers and Senior Asset Managers • Oversee shop performance, customer escalations, fleet reliability, service levels, and customer requirements • Lead onboarding, training, performance development, and performance management for team members • Develop, refine, and roll out SOPs, workflows, and operational standards • Serve as subject matter expert on technical and procedural issues • Act as principal liaison for asset condition updates, escalations, and resolution planning with customers, repair shops, and internal departments • Make decisions regarding repair execution, shop performance, vendor coordination, and customer-impacting operational issues • Represent Asset Management in leadership meetings, cross-functional workgroups, customer briefings, and industry forums • Analyze shop performance, cost trends, performance anomalies, and maintenance optimization opportunities • Approve and audit complex repair estimates and invoices for regulatory compliance, standards adherence, and cost effectiveness • Oversee bad order and program cars through repair cycles using Greenbrier asset management systems • Direct and authorize scrapping processes for end-of-life assets • Provide strategic oversight of fleet performance, lifecycle planning, and regulatory compliance • Use fleet analytics to assess program health, diagnose cost drivers, and develop corrective actions • Provide executive-level oversight of program execution after handoff from the Asset Management Program Planner • Ensure accurate real-time reporting of mechanical events, maintenance programs, repair progress, and asset movement • Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices and implement updates • Perform periodic railcar inspections • Provide overflow estimate and invoice review and approval support during peak demand

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive rail industry experience, focused on railcar maintenance, asset management, or repair operations • Experience coordinating technical projects with multiple stakeholders strongly preferred • Experience directly leading, coaching, and developing employees in a technical or operational environment • Advanced proficiency in Excel • Ability to interpret operational and financial data, identify trends, and translate findings into action • Experience with Power BI, Salesforce, Enspire, workflow automation, or AI-enabled productivity tools strongly preferred • Familiarity with rail asset management systems and processes preferred • Strong analytical and strategic decision-making in technical, high-volume environments • Excellent communication and ability to influence across functions and levels • Proactive, self-directed, and highly organized leadership • Skill in managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines • Commitment to exceptional internal and external customer service • Working knowledge of AAR and FRA regulations strongly preferred
