📋 Description

• Lead a high-performing team of engineers, including employees, internal contractors, and external contractors • Deliver high-impact features and improvements to core services and systems • Focus on people management, team development, and strategic execution rather than hands-on coding • Drive execution on projects supporting semi-annual and annual goals • Foster ownership, excellence, and psychological safety • Set team priorities, goals, and key metrics and hold the team accountable • Partner across engineering teams and with product, design, and customer stakeholders • Build and develop a diverse, high-performing team through hiring, coaching, and growth opportunities • Balance business operations, foundational work, and new initiatives • Identify technical risks, system bottlenecks, and process inefficiencies • Drive decision-making by gathering diverse perspectives and balancing customer value with business goals • Champion architectural quality, operational excellence, and technical strategy alignment • Approximately 10–20% business travel

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of related experience • US Citizenship required • Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust 6C • Demonstrated track record of leading high-performing engineering teams • Experience managing full-time employees, internal contractors, and external contractors • Experience focused on coaching, development, and team enablement • Experience managing the full software development lifecycle • Experience navigating complexity and ambiguity while maintaining team focus and morale • Track record of building, hiring, and developing diverse engineering teams • Experience setting technical direction and making architectural tradeoffs • Strong people management skills, including coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution • Ability to provide technical feedback on designs and architectural decisions without hands-on coding • Understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and modern engineering practices • Experience establishing efficient processes and operational cadences • Ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery of business value • Experience reviewing system health, engineering quality, and technical strategy alignment • Ability to communicate clearly and tailor messages to different audiences • Experience building cross-functional relationships and facilitating productive conflict • Growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning • Ability to guide teams through organizational transitions • Demonstrated use of AI and automation tools to enhance productivity and engineering outcomes • Ability to operate in ambiguous environments
