📋 Description

• Develop solutions and derisk integration of complex power systems, including data center applications and large hybrid electrical systems • Design and own electrical integration architecture • Develop and maintain Single Line Diagrams integrating GE Vernova systems, electrical subsystems, gas power turbines, EMS, battery energy storage, and grid hardware and software • Evaluate and develop application-specific electrical system architectures • Perform studies and simulations to validate system behavior against performance requirements • Perform technical and techno-economic assessments of power-system stability solutions, considering performance, cost, footprint, deployment lead time, and trade-offs • Define and specify protection functions for electrical system components • Define and specify load smoothing equipment and requirements for integrated solutions • Validate equipment interfaces against customer operational requirements • Support and lead cross-functional coordination studies and requirements testing for entire power systems • Collaborate with Consulting Services and GE Vernova engineering, sales, and product development teams • Determine and implement coordination settings and requirements for entire power systems • Support and interpret dynamic system studies to inform system design and optimization • Develop standardized reference architectures for repeatable applications and apply them to customer projects • Interface with utilities and Independent System Operators to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations • Identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in electrical, controls, or power systems engineering • 5+ years of professional experience in engineering, product management or a related function • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams to high value technical solutions • 5+ years of experience completing projects on-time and on-budget as either individual contributor or project manager • Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 25% of the time, as required • Understanding of dynamic system studies • Understanding of grid interconnection requirements or experience with power stability in grid connected applications • Solid understanding of government structures and players, global energy policy, worldwide power system codes and standards, power market structures, and macroeconomic impact of regulatory reform • Strong written and oral communication skills suitable for making presentations to internal and external business executives • Solid understanding of power systems phenomena including power transfer capability, voltage stability, dynamic grid behavior, sub-synchronous phenomena, harmonics, system transients, and insulation coordination • Solid understanding of technical regulatory standards and grid code compliance evaluation, testing and reporting • Solid understanding of power systems equipment, including BESS, solid state transformers, generators, transformers, circuit breakers, arresters, capacitors, synchronous condensers, HVDC, and power electronic converters • Solid understanding of protection design concepts for major power systems equipment • Solid understanding of controls concepts for grid-interactive power systems equipment, including automatic voltage regulators, power system stabilizers, frequency response and load controls, stability controls, FACTS, and HVDC • Preferred understanding of loadflow, dynamic stability, EMT and production simulation modeling concepts, applications and validation • Working knowledge of PSLF, PSS/E, PowerFactory, EMTP, MATLAB, Python, PSCAD, MAPS, or PLEXOS • Ability and willingness to travel 25% of the time, as required
