📋 Description

• Lead and coordinate the full scope of HV/EHV AC power substation design projects • Lead a multidisciplinary technical project team and contractors • Coordinate with vendors, professional customers, project managers, and engineering teams • Perform detailed substation design work and apply/specify substation equipment • Serve as primary technical lead for scheduling, standards compliance, value engineering, design review planning, engineering-hours budgets, and quality assurance/control • Develop and oversee power single-line diagrams and equipment specifications • Develop general substation arrangement drawings, layouts, elevations, grounding, conduit/trench, cable routing, detail drawings, and control-building layouts • Develop high-voltage bus, structures, equipment, and wiring arrangements • Prepare detailed bills of materials and related studies/calculations • Act as the single point of contact for technical matters • Direct and support engineers and designers to meet specifications, budget, and timelines • Drive cross-discipline coordination for integrated substation solutions • Review and contribute to inquiry-to-order process deliverables • Prepare conceptual engineering and proposal documentation • Support sourcing, vendor quotation evaluation, and technical clarifications/assumptions • Lead preparation of high-voltage equipment specifications and contractor work scopes • Support vendor engagement and equipment selection • Lead subcontracted design work scopes when needed • Assist with team productivity and billable utilization • Ensure engineering outputs meet customer critical-to-quality requirements and are delivered on time and within budget • Support commissioning and customer/project-stakeholder interface efforts

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university • Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial or utility HV/EHV substation design, or 6 years with a Master's degree and HV/EHV substation design experience • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally • +10 years of experience desired • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S. in good standing, with ability to obtain licensure in other states desired • Experience with North American electric utility substation design standards • Expertise in transmission and distribution substation engineering • Expertise in primary outdoor substation design, calculations, and electrical protection • Industrial power system design experience at 12.5 kV and above • Proficiency in battery sizing, DC system design, and AC auxiliary power calculations • Proficiency in power transformer and circuit breaker selection • Proficiency in conductor sizing and application • Proficiency in grounding, lightning protection, and insulation coordination • Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards • Field-testing and commissioning experience with strong emphasis on safety • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills • Customer-facing communication and commercial awareness • Proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation and design automation tools • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
