• Perform reliability modeling and statistical analysis of energy management and protection/control products • Develop and execute hardware and software reliability test plans, including HIL, environmental, and stress testing • Conduct and lead FMEA, FMECA, and root cause analysis for hardware/software failures • Embed Design for Reliability from concept through deployment with product design, systems engineering, and software teams • Analyze field data from deployed relays, RTUs, and control systems • Collaborate with utilities and customers on grid asset performance and modernization initiatives • Develop and maintain reliability KPIs such as MTBF, FIT rate, and availability • Drive predictive and condition-based maintenance using remote diagnostics, SCADA, and sensor data • Align reliability priorities with the Innovation Office and Applications team • Monitor regulatory compliance requirements affecting utility asset reliability and cybersecurity • Coach, train, and guide internal teams and external stakeholders on reliability practices
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline • Extensive experience in reliability, systems, or product engineering in the energy or utility sector • Familiarity with protection and control systems, grid-edge devices, substation automation, and utility-grade software • Hands-on experience with reliability engineering tools and standards such as ReliaSoft, ISO 9001/55000, and IEC 61025 • Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEEE C37.118, and related T&D communications standards • Experience with Python, R, Minitab, or Power BI for data analysis • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional teams and utility customers • Deep understanding of T&D grid reliability challenges • Systems thinking and problem-solving ability • Data-driven mindset with attention to long-term product health • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and cybersecurity considerations for critical infrastructure, including NERC, IEEE, and IEC standards • Master’s degree in Reliability or Systems Engineering is desired • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or similar certification is desired • Familiarity with model-based design and HIL testing, including RTDS, PSCAD, or EMTP, is desired • Experience working directly with T&D utilities is desired
