📋 Description

• Design and build a next-generation reliability platform for Affirm’s production systems • Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team • Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and support delivery • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and product development • Articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions considering risks and trade-offs • Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues • Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues, and support operations, availability, keep-the-lights-on, and on-call efforts • Set and improve code review and design standards • Advocate for quality and ownership through writing and tech talks • Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer • Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale • Experience with technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes • Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue • Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks for automation and guidance with guardrails and citations • Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, extensible designs • Ability to write high-quality, understandable, reusable code • Proficiency making significant changes in large codebases • Suite of tools and practices enabling safe changes to large codebases • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team • Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
