Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois is a regional council of the Girl Scouts organization and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that delivers leadership development, experiential education, camps, and community programming for girls. The council runs troop-based and individually registered membership programs, trains and supports volunteers, operates camps and events, and conducts fundraising (notably cookie and fall product sales) to support local programs and scholarships. GSNI partners with schools, community organizations, and donors to provide inclusive youth development opportunities across Northern Illinois.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement plans for membership growth and retention through volunteer engagement • Schedule and manage recruitment events in assigned areas approximately 2–3 times per week during peak seasons, independently or with volunteers • Deliver or support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience until adults are trained and ready to serve as volunteers • Provide direct support to troops and girls when required • Promote belonging and ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults through outreach to community groups, organizations, and other constituencies • Provide onboarding, ongoing support, supervision, conflict management, and direction to volunteers • Interpret council policies, standards, and procedures for volunteers • Participate in developing environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access

🎯 Requirements

• Belief in the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character • Interest in actively supporting girls’ leadership development • Ability to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week • Availability for weekends and evenings • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills • Ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds • Minimum of 2–3 years of related work experience • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate, motivate, and maintain effective relationships with volunteers and staff • Valid driver’s license • Reliable transportation • Frequent travel within the Council area • High School Diploma or equivalent required • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
