• Own GiveDirectly’s research and learning strategy for Emergency Cash Programs and frontier topics • Define and prioritize impact-focused learning questions against organization-wide priorities • Lead strategic impact evaluations and impact-focused research across multiple countries • Establish research partnerships and make resourcing decisions • Set standards for data collection, quality checks, analyses, ethics, and compliance • Establish and refine policies and systems for data sharing, human subjects protections, and transparency • Drive evidence-informed decision-making across Emergency Cash teams • Advise RME leadership on research strategy and capacity development • Pilot and refine new research methods and share lessons across the organization • Own outcome-focused indicators and measurement standards • Direct strategic research projects and manage partnerships or contracts • Mentor Research Managers and Emergency Cash team staff • Represent GiveDirectly’s Emergency Cash research externally • Author research briefs, policy papers, and submissions • Partner with Partnerships to position Emergency Cash work as credible and evidence-driven
• Expertise in Emergency Cash research strategy and methods • Experience owning strategic impact evaluations and impact-focused research across multiple countries • Ability to develop research concepts and establish research partnerships • Ability to set standards and systems for research best practices • Knowledge of data collection processes, data quality checks, and research analyses • Knowledge of data sharing, human subjects protections, and data transparency • Ability to develop outcome-focused indicators based on theories of change and research literature • Experience managing research partnerships or contracts end-to-end • Ability to author and co-author research briefs, policy papers, and submissions • Ability to negotiate with fundraising, partnerships, product, programs, and communications leaders • Ability to represent research externally at leadership level and high-stakes events • Ability to mentor research staff and Research Managers
