📋 Description

• Serve as final technical decision authority below the VP for WAN, LAN, data center, cloud interconnect, and network security edge architecture • Own the multi-year network architecture roadmap and technology selection • Chair network design reviews and approve major changes, including BGP policy, EVPN/VXLAN, SD-WAN/SASE, Equinix Fabric, AWS Direct Connect, optical/WAVE circuits, and route diversity designs • Own technical standards, reference architectures, golden configurations, and HLD/LLD design documentation • Ensure designs are buildable and operable by the engineering team • Partner with the Director of Cybersecurity & Network Systems, with this role owning technical decisions and the peer organization owning staffing and operations • Own network observability architecture using Kentik, including flow analytics, synthetic testing, BGP monitoring, and capacity planning • Serve as senior technical escalation for complex incidents, lead post-incident architectural reviews, and drive systemic fixes • Represent network architecture to executives, enterprise customers, auditors, and third-party assessors • Ensure designs satisfy NIST 800-171, SOC 2, and ITAR/EAR obligations • Partner with compliance and legal on export-controlled technical data handling • Lead technical network workstreams for integration readiness, due diligence, and third-party assessments • Evaluate emerging technology, run proofs of concept, and influence vendor technical strategy and roadmaps • Provide technical input to budget and contract decisions • Mentor senior engineers on advanced routing, fabric design, and design discipline • Travel to headquarters, gateway sites, data centers, and vendor/customer locations as business requires

🎯 Requirements

• Active CCIE certification required (Enterprise Infrastructure or Service Provider track preferred) • A second expert-level certification (additional CCIE track, CCDE, JNCIE, or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty) is strongly preferred • 15+ years of progressive network engineering experience • 7+ years in a principal, distinguished, or chief-architect level design role with demonstrable design authority at scale • Expert-level BGP: policy design, route reflection, communities, traffic engineering, and multi-homing at scale • Deep experience with EVPN/VXLAN data center fabrics and modern spine/leaf design • Hands-on experience with SD-WAN/SASE platforms; Cato Networks strongly preferred • Experience with cloud interconnect, including Equinix Fabric and AWS Direct Connect • Experience with carrier services, optical/WAVE circuits, circuit diversity analysis, and carrier technical escalation • Experience designing under NIST 800-171, SOC 2, and ITAR/EAR compliance regimes • Track record of influencing without direct authority across teams not directly managed • Network observability fluency, including Kentik or equivalent, NetFlow/sFlow analytics, synthetic testing, BGP monitoring, and SLA-driven capacity planning • Strong executive communication skills and ability to defend architecture decisions to VP/C-suite audiences • S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR required due to access to export-controlled technical data • Proficiency with Microsoft Office • Familiarity with NetSuite • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred; equivalent experience considered • Standard office environment • Ability to travel to company headquarters, gateway sites, data centers, and vendor/customer locations as required • Occasional after-hours availability may be required for major incidents and maintenance windows
