• Draft and revise Trust & Safety policies and guidelines covering fraud and identity risk, content moderation, campaign integrity, prohibited fundraising, and platform abuse • Identify policy gaps or failures using enforcement and appeal data, calibration disagreement, and the external landscape • Recommend policy, guidance, or product changes and make the case to owning teams • Define terms, thresholds, decision criteria, and consequences for reviewers and automated systems • Maintain coherence across the policy corpus and resolve contradictory outcomes at the framework level • Extend GoFundMe’s policy architecture, definitions, thresholds, decision logic, and operational standards • Own the policy lifecycle and criteria for measuring policy performance • Write policy proposals framing questions, options, tradeoffs, and recommendations for decision-makers and executives • Own policy calibration with operations teams and revise policy based on calibration, escalations, and appeals • Set the boundary between policy judgment and independent operations decisions • Own the policy substance of appeals and feed appeal and overturn data into policy revisions • Serve as the primary policy contact for automation, detection, and ML partners • Translate policy criteria into detection requirements • Partner across Trust & Safety and with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Go To Market • Review potentially sensitive or disturbing material, including violence, exploitation, self-injury, offensive language, images, videos, or text
• 8+ years of policy experience • Substantial ownership of policy in fraud, identity, or transactional risk • Experience authoring or substantially revising policies implemented at scale • Experience managing the full policy lifecycle from problem identification through post-launch monitoring • Experience operationalizing policy and calibrating its application across teams • Experience writing enforcement guidelines, reviewer training materials, and escalation criteria • Ability to write policies that reviewers apply consistently and users understand • Ability to explain policy tradeoffs to Legal and Communications, scope decisions to Product, and enforcement changes to Operations • Preferred: experience in content policy development • Preferred: experience at a fundraising, donations, crowdfunding, or nonprofit-adjacent platform • Preferred: experience translating policy into automated detection requirements and evaluating policy performance using enforcement, appeal, and accuracy data • Ability to review sensitive material, including disturbing or offensive content
