📋 Description

• Defend insured clients and Grange Insurance in pending litigation throughout the entire assigned state(s) • Travel when necessary, including occasional overnight travel • Communicate with Grange claims legal personnel on assigned litigation files • Maintain pending and closed litigation files according to House Counsel protocols and records retention expectations • Participate in quality assurance reviews of assigned files and house counsel office procedures • Assist with maintaining and distributing recurring management reports for the house counsel office • Assist with training less experienced associate defense attorneys • Assist with training paralegals and legal secretaries

🎯 Requirements

• Must be a member of the Ohio Bar • At least five years of experience in insurance defense litigation • Ability to litigate and defend clients in state and federal court • Ability to litigate tort/negligence actions and coverage disputes throughout assigned state(s) • Personal and commercial lines experience • Knowledge of the civil litigation market in Northeast and North-Central Ohio • Thorough knowledge of claim values, bodily injury claims, and commercial claims • Comprehensive knowledge of tort/negligence law, civil procedure, and insurance contracts and interpretation • Initiative and adaptability to trial/litigation office demands, civil trial courts, and required travel • Good analytical, organizational, legal research, written communication, and verbal communication skills • Valid Ohio state driver's license required • Ability to travel throughout Northeast/North-Central Ohio, all of Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania • Good knowledge of Windows products including Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred • Knowledge of virtual communication applications including Zoom and Microsoft Teams preferred • Experience with commercial insurance policies, defending commercial clients, and commercial liability litigation preferred • Pennsylvania bar admission, or ability to become barred in Pennsylvania in the future, preferred • Ability to work in a paperless environment using Litify and secure AI tools
