📋 Description

• Report directly to Gridmatic’s Chief Commercial Officer. • Build out Gridmatic’s commercial legal functions as its first internal legal counsel. • Draft, review, and negotiate renewable and storage power purchase agreements and tolling agreements. • Manage relationships with outside counsel. • Manage and negotiate trading frameworks including ISDAs and EEIs. • Structure and negotiate retail electric power customer contracts. • Establish and standardize legal policies, processes, templates, and workflows. • Work closely and communicate effectively with commercial colleagues to align legal strategy with company goals.

🎯 Requirements

• Must be an active, licensed attorney. • 4 to 10 years of legal experience. • Strong energy contracting experience. • Experience as an associate at a law firm with a strong energy practice, or experience transitioned in-house to a power company or commodities trader. • Highly autonomous, a clear and proactive communicator, and comfortable operating without an existing playbook. • Familiarity or hands-on experience navigating energy regulatory frameworks (FERC, ISOs, state PUCs, CFTC, etc.) is a strong plus, not a must-have. • Exposure to any combination of energy, trading, investment funds, technology, and startups is a bonus rather than a strict requirement.
