GrowthX serves primarily B2B customers (CMOs and marketing teams) aiming to increase search rankings, AI citation visibility, and web conversions.

📋 Description

• Build and own GrowthX AI’s accounting function from 0 to 1 • Report to the Head of Finance • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close • Direct the outsourced bookkeeping relationship initially and bring close, bookkeeping, and AP execution in-house over time • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements • Analyze balance sheet and P&L movements and investigate variances • Own AR and collections, including invoicing, payment application, aging, and customer follow-up • Oversee AP and vendor management, including approval workflows and vendor account hygiene • Handle ASC 606 revenue recognition, contract modifications, and billing structures for subscription and services revenue • Own Campfire, Carta, and billing/payment systems, including their integration roadmap • Establish accounting processes, approval workflows, documentation, and internal controls • Review customer and vendor contracts for accounting, billing, and revenue recognition implications • Own equity administration, option grant processing, cap table accuracy, and legal coordination • Support treasury, cash positioning, inter-account transfers, and cash-needs forecasting • Coordinate tax and compliance with external tax and legal advisors, including multi-state filings and notices • Partner with People Ops on payroll accounting, compensation changes, and compliance alongside the PEO • Prepare monthly reporting packages for lenders and investors • Build audit readiness through documentation and controls

🎯 Requirements

• Prior experience as a Controller, or as a strong Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager ready to run the function independently, ideally at a high-growth Series A SaaS company • Experience building or materially maturing an accounting function • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription and services revenue • Daily use of AI tools for close, reconciliations, and reporting, with judgment about accounting workflow automation • Ability to own the close independently • Ability to assess accounting and cash implications of contracts, compensation changes, and operational decisions • Clear and direct communication with non-finance executives • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity in a remote, async, high-autonomy environment • Experience with or ability to quickly learn modern GL systems such as Campfire, Ramp, Rippling, or NetSuite preferred • Legal authorization to work in the country of residence; employment visa sponsorship is not available • Minimum 4-hour overlap with San Francisco mornings PST
