📋 Description

• Perform quality surgical coding on Neurology surgery chart types as assigned • Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data • Apply appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS codes for coding, billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance • Code conditions and procedures according to ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines, CMS/MAC rules, CPT rules, and other mandated coding guidelines • Review coding-related payer denials and recommend actions to resolve claims • Maintain 95% coding accuracy while meeting productivity standards • Work the review queue daily and communicate corrections to the facility • Correct and communicate charts requiring re-bills daily • Report coder downtime immediately to administrative staff • Work directly with IQC staff to meet facility quality standards • Answer physician and hospital coding or billing questions within eight hours • Code or pend every queued chart within 24 hours and notify administrative staff when turnaround cannot be met • Check the Guidehouse email system at least every two hours during coding sessions • Maintain professional credentials throughout employment • Use the Guidehouse coding website as a daily coding and abstraction tool • Maintain HIPAA-compliant workstations • Review and follow coding division policies and procedures • Collaborate with facility coding and billing teams to maximize efficiency and reimbursement • Communicate problems or coding discrepancies to the supervisor immediately

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED • Minimum 3 years Neurology Surgery Coding experience, including IP and OP coding for physician claims • CPC certification from AAPC • EMR experience • Must maintain credential throughout employment • Ability to work independently, multitask, and interface with personnel and clients at all levels • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint • High level of accuracy • Strong working knowledge and experience with Federal and State Coding regulations and guidelines • Ability to work 20 hours per week • Multi-specialty surgical coding experience is nice to have • Neuro Trauma experience coding spinal/brain traumas is nice to have • Experience coding for teaching hospitals is nice to have • Experience with EPIC is nice to have
