📋 Description

• Develop new features, maintain existing features, and build product workflows for Hospitable’s core platform and growth products • Shape products, ship new core platform features from 0→1, and iterate based on customer feedback • Build simple, intuitive user experiences and maintainable engineering solutions • Partner with product, sales, customer success, and engineering teams to ship effective features • Work within the monolithic codebase on Kubernetes-powered infrastructure-as-code • Implement and use observability tooling for post-deployment tracking and debugging • Identify and resolve high-impact performance, resource, and feature issues • Refactor core platform code to improve understandability, maintainability, and testability • Review AI-generated production code and understand it before deployment

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, focused on backend technologies • Significant experience with Laravel, PHP 7+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in a deployed web application used by paying customers • Laravel experience is non-negotiable • Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, or similar in a real production codebase • Ability to write testable, maintainable, and intuitive code • Customer- and business-value-oriented approach; avoids unnecessary abstraction • Ability to reason through non-obvious usage scenarios and ripple effects in complex systems • High degree of empathy toward customers and teammates • Exceptional written communication skills; familiarity with Slack and Notion communication • Self-motivated and able to make decisions amid uncertainty • Experience with queue/job-centric backends is a plus • Experience building production systems where third-party API data ingestion is business-critical is a big plus
