• Contribute to a productive, welcoming work environment and participate in process improvement activities such as After-Action surveys • Serve in deployment roles assigned according to training and experience • Work with or oversee Animal Rescue Team members and volunteers during rescue, transport, and sheltering operations • Coordinate with Animal Care and Field Response management to implement operational strategies • Provide accurate information for situation reports, daily care or medical records, animal census information, and legal compliance records • Maintain animal care equipment and vehicles • Participate in planning response activities • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities • Respond to large-scale animal cruelty or disaster rescues in field and sheltering roles as needed • Complete at least one rotation at the Maryland Care and Rehabilitation Center before becoming eligible for field response
• High school diploma or equivalent required • Minimum three years of experience in species-specific animal handling, veterinary technology or assistance, force-free animal training, grooming, shelter animal care, disaster response, fire/EMT, law enforcement, humane law enforcement or cruelty investigations, animal care and control, or similar • Ability to safely and humanely handle animals and knowledge of husbandry and care practices for relevant species • Applicants within a one-hour drive of Nashville, Tennessee, or western Maryland highly desirable • Experience handling animals in distress • Ability to travel occasionally, sometimes on short notice, for 5+ days at a time, at least once per year when opportunities are offered • Ability to work holidays and outside standard business hours when necessary • Strong oral and written communication skills • PC proficiency, including word processing and Internet use • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, take initiative, and maintain communication with staff and responders • Completion of FEMA courses IS-100 and IS-200 required • Experience in emergency operations or response preferred • Experience with Chameleon animal sheltering software preferred • Low Stress Handling or Fear Free Shelters completion strongly preferred • Relevant required certificates and training completion certificates must be submitted with the application • Ability to deploy to locations anywhere in the United States as needed
