📋 Description

• Lead and manage a small, skilled team in power systems modeling and analytics for utility clients • Mentor and train less experienced engineers in power engineering theories and principles • Improve job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and team performance • Perform project management tasks including forecasting, hour tracking, budgeting, milestones, scheduling meetings, and delegating tasks • Interact with prospective clients to demonstrate ICF’s expertise and attract new business • Develop scopes of work, project timelines, and budget estimates • Participate in weekly client meetings and deliver project status updates • Create, revise, and maintain transmission short circuit models using CAPE and ASPEN • Create, revise, and maintain transmission power flow models using PSSE and PSCAD • Create, revise, and maintain distribution system models using CYME, Synergi, and WindMil • Perform Arc Flash analysis to calculate facility hazard ratings • Analyze transmission line models using LiDAR and 3D models in PLS-CADD • Perform voltage imbalance analysis in PSCAD • Calculate thermal ampacity ratings according to FAC-008, FERC-881, and relevant IEEE standards • Write technical reports summarizing analysis findings • Develop automation scripts using Python, SQL, and VBA

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering or related field • 12+ years of experience in electrical engineering theories and principles, including transmission and distribution system modeling, short circuit and power flow analysis, arc flash hazard calculations, voltage imbalance studies, and/or thermal ampacity ratings • 5+ years' experience working at an electric utility, such as an investor-owned utility, municipal utility, or electric cooperative • Preferred: Master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering or related field • Preferred: People management and mentorship experience • Preferred: Experience directing and reviewing the work of others for quality assurance and delivering constructive feedback • Preferred: Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NERC and FERC regulations • Preferred: Experience scripting in Python to automate analyses in power systems software • Preferred: Ability to plan and manage assignments and clearly communicate barriers to complete tasks on budget/schedule • Preferred: Proficiency in software tools for engineering modeling, automation systems, and spreadsheet-based analyses • Ability to work productively from a home office without direct supervision
