📋 Description

• Report directly to the Assistant Controller • Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP • Own key components of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure transactions comply with GAAP and company accounting policies • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies • Mentor and supervise the Staff Accountant • Assist with accounting policies and procedures • Leverage modern finance tools and AI-based solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting insights • Identify process improvements and automate accounting workflows • Support external audits and prepare supporting schedules and documentation • Assist with implementation and maintenance of the internal control environment • Partner with operations, product, tech, and data teams on ad hoc projects and new business initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field required • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, specializing in premium recognition, claims and reserves • Familiarity with accounting software • Proficient in Microsoft Excel • Workday experience is a plus • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Experience using AI tools to improve or automate financial processes • Experience implementing or improving finance systems or processes • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a collaborative and fast-paced setting • Authorized to work in the United States or Canada without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
