📋 Description

• Architect, design, develop, and implement next-generation applications using modern software engineering practices • Apply AI-leveraged development, data streaming, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and platform-as-a-service technologies • Modernize the FAA TFDM platform • Provide architectural oversight for software development, Kafka/data streaming, integration, test automation, security testing, and deployments • Provide hands-on software expertise and mentoring across application integration, Kafka/data streaming, SOA, security, business rules processing, CI/CD, containerization, reporting, and UX • Investigate and repair defects across Kafka/data streaming, CI/CD, front-end, business logic, middleware, and backend components • Brief executive leadership or clients on matters of significant organizational or project importance • Perform other duties as assigned or directed

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, engineering, or related technical discipline • 12+ years of full lifecycle development experience • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting Apache Kafka or other production streaming data solutions • 7+ years of software development experience using Java, C++, or Python • Experience with AI-leveraged development, including agentic coding tools, multi-agent orchestration, MCP-based integration, RAG, context engineering, and AI evaluations/guardrails • Experience working in Agile software development environments • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed • Extensive Java experience plus at least one additional language such as C++ or Python • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, software architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, and modern software engineering practices • Experience modernizing legacy applications with containerized solutions on OpenShift/Kubernetes • Hands-on experience developing event-driven applications and using Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, or ksqlDB • Expert production experience designing, deploying, tuning, and troubleshooting Apache Kafka or other Kafka platforms • Experience designing high-volume, low-latency, highly available event-driven systems • Strong knowledge of Event Driven Architecture (EDA) • Experience applying AI-assisted software development practices • Expertise in operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, cost optimization, and sustainability • Experience identifying requirements, evaluating technical alternatives, and leading complex enterprise solution design and implementation • Experience architecting and deploying cloud-native applications to AWS • Experience with monitoring, scalability, and application reliability tools • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills • Preferred: FAA development environment experience • Preferred: AI spec-driven development • Preferred: secrets/configuration management and scripting • Preferred: network and security engineering • Preferred: Istio or OpenShift Service Mesh • Preferred: automated unit testing, TDD, BDD, JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Selenium, or Sikuli • Preferred: Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes, Docker/Podman, and Helm • Preferred: enterprise DevOps/GitOps using GitLab, Argo tools, and Git • Preferred: Ansible, CloudFormation, or Terraform • Preferred: AWS Cloud certifications
